Drums Alive! combines traditional aerobic movements with the powerful beat and rhythm of the drums. This is a workout for the entire body, mind and spirit! Feel and experience the pulsating rhythms, dynamic movements and powerful percussions of this new high-energy dance and rhythm program. Carrieās Drums Alive! presentation sells out at every IDEA Convention! Drums are not required, but you will need a stability ball to complete this course.
Course Objectives: Describe music, sound, and movement therapy and list the primary benefits of each.Outline the relationship between drumming and the central nervous system.Identify the elements of music.List the equipment necessary for a Drums Alive program and suggest alternative equipment. Outline 10 formats the instructor can use to effectively position students for a Drums Alive class. Discuss the components of a Drums Alive class and demonstrate appropriate stretching exercises.Demonstrate how to correctly hold the drumsticks.Demonstrate 15 basic drumming techniques.Recognize common locomotor movements that can be incorporated into basic drumming.Perform the Drums Alive choreographed routine demonstrated on the Drums Alive DVD.Discuss additional drumming activities. |
