Karl Knopf, EdD, has been involved in adaptive fitness for over thirty years in many different capacities, from college administrator and professor to fitness instructor. Karl has served as a consultant to Time Life videos, Stanford University, and the University of California and has been advisor to the State of California’s Community Colleges and to the Department of Public Health. Karl has authored six textbooks and numerous articles on older adult fitness and chronic conditions and is a frequent speaker at numerous state and national conferences.
Currently Dr. Knopf is Professor of Adaptive/Older Adult Fitness at Foothill College, President of Fitness Educators of Older Adult Association, and is an advisor to ACE, IDEA, ISSA and Sit & Be Fit in the area of older adult fitness. He is the recipient of the respected NISOD Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Knopf graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in physical education and sociology. He was awarded a master’s degree in human performance and adaptive physical education from San Jose State University and a doctorate in higher education from Nova University.
