Paul Spicer, QMRP Back

Paul Spicer, a Qualified Mental Retardation Practitioner, earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology and has a lifetime of experience in therapeutic recreation. Growing up as a child Paul was afforded hands on education by his mother who was a progressive leader in the movement for the rights of individuals with disabilities. Paul's mother, one of the first in the community to offer integrated therapeutic recreation to individuals with and without disabilities, introduced him to the skills necessary in assisting special populations. With a career focused on continuing this approach Paul has been recognized as an exceptional leader for his membership and activism in the Special Olympics, The Arc (formally known as the Association for Retarded Citizens), National Association of QMRPs, American Association on Mental Retardation, as well as state and local government agencies. Paul owns and operates Spicer & Associates, LLC - an organization providing disability-related publications, workshops, and consultative services. Paul has published a number of health and wellness books, written articles for magazines such as IDEA Fitness, and acts as a consultant on the topic of therapeutic recreation, community inclusion, and the health of special populations.
