Mary E. Sanders, is an Associate Professor/Exercise Specialist, Center for Nutrition and Metabolic Disorders, School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor, School of Public Health and Affiliated Faculty, Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno.
She is Director of WaterFit®/Golden Waves; Associate Editor of ACSM‚s Health & Fitness Journal for the American College of Sports Medicine; Advisory board member/columnist for International Council on Active Aging; Advisory board/research team member for Thera-Band® Academy; editor/co-author of YMCA Water Fitness for Health and developer of WaterFit and the Speedo Aquatic Fitness Systems. Sanders conducts research in exercise for health and educational leadership, trains instructors globally, and is an international presenter and author. She is the recipient of the 1997 IDEA, The Health & Fitness Association's Instructor of the Year Award, the Aquatic Exercise Association's 2000 Global Award for Lifetime Achievement in Aquatic Fitness, Fitness Educators of Older Adults Association's Fitness Educator of the Year, 2001 and Aerobic Fitness & Health Association, Taiwan, ROC, 10 Years of Contributions Award, 2004.
