Dr. Harris is a neurologist with advanced training in neurophysiology, neuromuscular disorders, and pain management. She has taught group fitness for fourteen years and was a continuing education provider for the American Council on Exercise for many years. In 2004, Stephanie was chosen as Group Fitness Instructor of the Year by the American Council on Exercise. Since 1996, Dr. Harris has presented numerous workshops for mature adults on fitness-related topics, including balance, resistance training, cardiovascular fitness, and flexibility training. These workshops have been presented to groups such as Oasis, Sacred Heart Senior Class, the Health through Exercise and an Active Lifestyle (HEAL) conference, Canyon Ranch, and many others. She has also written articles on exercise- and health-related issues for Senior Living, a statewide journal for seniors. Additionally, she has lectured on fitness, exercise, and aging for community groups, health professionals, teachers, and ACSM certifications. Dr. Harris is the developer of “Seniors on the Move,” a successful educational and group fitness program for mature adults dedicated to challenging participants while accommodating physical and medical limitations. Dr. Harris is currently president of the Board of Directors for the International Institute of Sport and Human Performance at the University of Oregon.
