Tim Lohman, PhD, is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physiology at The University of Arizona. He has conducted research in body composition in children and adults over the past 40 years. His primary research endeavors from 1970 to 1990 was developing better approaches to body composition methodology and standardization. Since 1990 he has been involved in several large scale collaborative studies including BEST (Bone Estrogen Strength Training Study), TAAG (Trial for Adolescent Activity in Girls) and Healthy Weight For Life. He has published over 300 articles and book chapters. His current research focus is on long-term weight loss, and he is writing a book on the obesity epidemic and weight loss. He is currently co-editor of the revised edition of Human Body Composition and is a member of IOC Ad Hoc Body Composition Committee. |
